Research & Development - Secure Group Communications

The future of military communications is rapidly converging on visions of connectivity such as the Global Information Grid and the Joint Tactical Radio System. In these visions, combinations of wireline and wireless communications are used to provide many-to-many collaborative communications between troops and sensors in the battlefield, and command and control systems located thousands of miles away. The large number of participants in a typical communications scenario necessitates efficient communication protocols. Moreover, the stringent and complex security policies demand efficiencies in security management. We are developing systems that will enable efficient and secure communications in a heterogenous mobile network. This technology is relevant to securing an ad hoc network of mobile devices in a commercial scenario as well.
